She is a French artist, she’s been living in the US for the past 8 years, and she’s been writing songs since she was 14 years old. Earlier this month, Auregan released her first country song, and her second one will land on May 23rd.
Country is at the top of the hype with Beyonce’s Cowboy Carter, Shaboozey and Dasha, but it is not every day that a country single is put out by… a French artist. Long before line dance and country-pop duos rose to the top of the billboard charts, Auregan was driving our dirt roads and writing her new songs, adopting the Country genre as her new way of life.
After a successful career in France doing Celtic Rock, and three intense headlining tours with major music festivals performances in Europe, Auregan moved to the US. She traveled extensively in many of our states, dedicating a couple years to learn how to speak English, and meet a lot of locals along the way.
When her ukulele case was full of songs and her mind full of memories, she felt ready to go to Music City. She wrote and recorded a series of songs in East Nashville with producer Jeff Coplan, and she is now poised to become the next country music sensation.
Her song “This Freedom” is a love letter to America, the vast landscapes and the freedom of driving anywhere you want. The track, released on May 2, 2024, is a testimony to a form of the American Dream, with an unexpected alternative-country-French-Touch that definitively brings a fresh perspective to a genre that often feeds on repetitive musical stereotypes.
Her next song, “French Kiss a Cowboy” will hit the streaming platforms on May 23rd. It is teased as a feel-good, girl empowering party song , and judging by the title, we’re intrigued.
